Warmsure Grant

THe warmsure grant was set up by the government to try and reduce the carbon emissions of households, through improving the thermal efficency of the properties for those most in need of a helping hand. Whilst this is not strictly a renewable heat incentive grant, it is the type of grant every household should have available to them - as many vulnerable homeowners are struggling to pay there bills, leaving thousands in fuel poverty.

The warmsure grant is aimed at providing a basic standard of home for everyone, ensuring that houses do not waste the energy through poor insulation or inefficient boilers. The warmsure scheme will allow up to £3500 towards the installation of a grade A energy efficient boiler, 6 radiators, cavity and loft insulation as well as draft proofing!

As you can see, there is a wide scope for the warmsure grant to help a lot of people into living in a little more comfort, However this has not stopped unscrupulous heating companies from overcharging and if we are honest, Taking the mickey a little out of the Warmsure grant. This is quite simple as the process requires them to provide quotations, ask if the money is available in that persons grant and then do the work... sometimes getting paid weeks ahead of even ordering the materials - let alone booking in the warmsure grant work!

However if a Free Boiler, And Free Insulation do take your fancy, and you are on certain income assessed benefits and living in either your own mortgaged property or a private rented houses then you can apply, and have your house central heating replaced free of charge.

And remember next time it snows, look for the houses with no snow on the roof - those are wasting the most energy and money!
